Think again. I heard on the radio today the most straightforward and honest explanation I’ve ever heard from a Liberal Democrat about what they believe. This is what these people stand for, so watch out, and don’t be shocked when you end up with less under their rule. This is Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA):

Obama’s Illogical Tax Policy

This one I just don’t get. Barack Obama said today that he might not rescind President Bush’s tax cuts in light of the current economic slowdown.

That implies that he thinks it would be harmful to the economy to raise taxes on “the wealthy few.” If it’s a bad idea in an economic downturn, how is it a good idea any other time? Someone needs to have a talk with the Messiah about logic and contradiction.

Palin Rumors, Ratings, Pivots

I just came across a site that painstakingly addresses all the rumors circulating about Gov. Sarah Palin. Most of them are beyond absurd.

I’m sure it pained the Huffington Post to run this story about McCain’s speech not only topping Palin’s in the ratings, but also the messianic Obama’s speech, and every other convention speech in history. Obama may be largely responsible for the surge in interest this election cycle, but that does not mean he’ll reap all the benefits.

Finally, Michael Barone does a good job of summing up the events and results of the last week at the GOP convention. Now we’ll have to see how successfully McCain/Palin can execute on the pivot they made towards being maverick reformers, instead of focusing on “experience.”

Joe Biden is actually the pick I was hoping for.Â He is actually quite a funny guy, but he often takes it too far. It’s only a matter of time before he puts his foot in his mouth again, or perhaps even his entire leg.

The idea that 6 terms in the U.S. Senate make him a “foreign policy expert” is really amusing to me. There’s a big difference between chairing a committee on foreign policy, and being the policy maker and executor of America’s foreign policy.

This goes back to the fact that Senators do not make good presidents. But then again, that’s just my opinion – I could be wrong. And yes, I realize that McCain is in the same boat.

My favorite Biden quote (of this presidential campaign) had to do with Rudy Giuliani:

There’s only three things he mentions in a sentence: a noun, and a verb and 9/11.

Sen. Joseph Lieberman makes far too much sense in an opinion pieceÂ in today’s Wall Street Journal.Â Meanwhile, the kook lefties at Daily Kos react predictably, using lines like “true diplomacy comes from using the velvet glove.”

Personally, this new deal looks like a terrible idea. What I’ve found particularly interesting is the interesting mix of people from both parties that also don’t like it. As you would expect, most Republican presidential candidates are against the deal, even though President Bush is ostensibly for it. It shocks me a little that many Democrats are coming out against it, although most are not using very strong language.
